Sustainability and Profits: OurCrowd’s New FoodTech Fund

Aviv comes with a proven history of leading technology-intensive projects on strict timelines. Prior to founding Remilk, he was the COO of CyberTraits, Ltd., a start-up that developed automated candidate-position fit evaluation systems for HR markets. Wolff began his career as a team leader in Israel’s top classified elite special forces unit within the IDF, where he led teams of engineers and combat soldiers on complex, technologically intensive missions.

Richard Lackey is the Chairman & CEO of the World Food Bank, which he founded in 2015 as a sustainable solution to hunger and food security issues across the globe. Richard is a career entrepreneur with 30 years of leadership experience in the trading and securities industry, having founded and led companies that were sold to Goldman Sachs and eTrade, serving as the managing director for five successful private funds, and authoring three books on technical analysis and market analysis.

But while Richard is a highly-regarded expert in the securities and trading industry, his core passion is resolving world hunger. Prior to his time in the trading world, Richard worked in emergency medicine and has been involved in medical relief teams in more than a dozen countries. Through this work, Richard was exposed first-hand to devastating poverty and hunger. He believed then, as he does now, that the suffering so many people experience from poverty and hunger can be prevented and alleviated through better integration of industry and political systems, especially systems that are market-driven, regenerative, and sustainable.

management, marketing, and business development in the food and foodtech industry, closely acquainted with the local and global foodtech scene, supporting early-stage start-ups from vision to scale. She is experienced in business evaluation of innovative technologies with high emphasis on applicable innovation and has initiated and led industry and startups joint development as well as implementation processes according to industry’s needs and requirements.

Beyond her extensive marketing background, as formerly the chief of staff and head of innovation unit in Tnuva, Israel’s biggest food company, she initiated and led corporate level strategic projects in various fields, from operational excellence to corporate strategy, and established the Tnuva group corporate innovation unit and work processes.

Jonathan Medved is a serial entrepreneur and according to the Washington Post (2007) “one of Israel’s leading high-tech venture capitalists.” In the 2008 NY Times Supplement “Israel at 60" Medved was named one of the top 10 most influential Americans who have impacted Israel. Medved is the founder and CEO of OurCrowd, the world’s largest equity crowdfunding platform for accredited investors which has raised more than $1B for over 170 companies since its launch in February 2013. Bloomberg Businessweek said that OurCrowd “has blown up the exclusivity around tech fundraising” and The Jerusalem Post added that “It has taken OurCrowd only a matter of months to become one of Israel’s most active funds.” TheStreet.com said that OurCrowd is “Crowdfunding for Real Investors.” Prior to OurCrowd, Medved was the co-founder and CEO of Vringo (Nasdaq:VRNG) and the co-founder and General Partner of Israel Seed Partners, with $262M under management.
